The Pandemics has rekindled the concern regarding footwear as a source of microorganism dissemination. By stepping on contaminated ground the bacteria, fungus and virus that adhere to the sole may survive there for some time, potentially transmitting them as we move.
Anti-Micro is an elastomer base material developed by Monteiro Footwear for footwear soles with verified antimicrobial activity. Tests performed according to the norm ISO21702:2019 for the antimicrobial assessment on non-porous surfaces, demonstrate its anti-viral activity, reducing 99,0% of an alfa-corona virus particles.
This remarkable capability is therefore an option to consider when engineering footwear devoted to the professionals most exposed to these risks. The brands devoted to comfort and orthopedic footwear could also bring this feature into the customization associated to this segment.
